Van M. Mankwitz - Mr. Mankwitz has many years of experience identifying under-valued companies, purchasing them, and then elevating them to substantially higher levels of profitability through his operational expertise. He has been the principal owner and operator of a number of automobile dealerships, the Colorado Auto Auction, Automotive Remarketing Services, Inc., Certified Aviation Education (CAE), Altitude Wholesale Company, CAMP Systems and others. Mr. Mankwitz focuses his attention on the strategic vision, direction and operations of MKI companies. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of multiple MKI portfolio companies. Mr. Mankwitz shares his time in Del Mar, California and Denver, Colorado.
Stephen S. Kurtz - Mr. Kurtz was previously President of Century Capital Group and has been engaged in professional services for over thirty years. He was a founder and principal builder of Shenkin, Kurtz, & Baker and Co., P.C., a financial and investment banking firm which he sold to Century Business Services Inc. –(NYSE: CBZ) in 1997. In 1995, as Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Rose Medical Center, Mr. Kurtz acted as the Hospital's chief negotiator for its sale to Columbia/HCA and currently serves as a HCA/HealthONE Board member and Chair of its Finance and Audit Committees. In December, 2007, Mr. Kurtz was appointed the Board and Chair of the Audit Committee of CIBER, INC, (NYSE:CBR). In 1990, Mr. Kurtz was called upon by Colorado Governor Roy Romer to be an integral player in obtaining the franchise for the Colorado Rockies Baseball Team and served as a member of its ownership group for several years. Over the years, Mr. Kurtz has been the principal owner and/or negotiator of numerous companies and transactions that total over $1 billion in value.
Mr. Kurtz received his B.S. in Business Administration from Babson College in 1972 with distinction, is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a registered securities representative (Series 24, 7, and 63 licenses).
Mr. Kurtz's primary emphasis has been in the negotiation, structuring, and tax planning for mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures and leveraged buyouts. He leads the M&A, tax planning and company cash flow and other financial control monitoring activities for MKI. Mr. Kurtz currently serves on the Board of Directors of multiple MKI portfolio companies. Mr. Kurtz shares his time in Phoenix, Arizona and Denver, Colorado.
Brian Van Mankwitz - Mr. Mankwitz is predominately responsible for sourcing and evaluating investment opportunities, conducting due diligence, and overseeing portfolio company sales and marketing activities. Mr. Mankwitz was formerly an investment banker at St. Charles Capital, a middle market investment bank focused on mergers and acquisitions, private capital formation and related advisory services. At St. Charles Capital Mr. Mankwitz was involved in the sale of numerous community banks and various other closely held businesses. Previously, Mr. Mankwitz had experience drafting and negotiating legislative documents for Jefferson Government Relations, a lobbying firm in Washington, DC. Mr. Mankwitz received a Masters in Accounting and Finance from the London School of Economics with honors, and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Vanderbilt University. He is actively involved and holds leadership positions in numerous business and community associations.
